Guild Issue: There are Zombies in our Guild

*Warning: This is gonna be a long entry
To BOYS: dam you boys. stop being lazy and take some time to READ. Practice your language and reading skills. -_- if u're really dam lazy, fine! I prepared a summary below. At least read the summary -_-

Jo and I are here today to address on a guild issue
Anti-Zombieanism


She started noticing this problem long ago and have confined in me before
I have spoken to a few of the guildmates
and told them to speak more


The problem with the guild is..
people do not communicate as often as they do
and when people make the attempt to talk
no one answers them
this resulted the feeling of being ignored, left out and neglected


I am gonna state both sides of their perspectives
on how they feel or think
because I, myself, have experienced on being a talker and an non-talker


Why do people not talk in guild?
1) busy with other things like work or studies
2) probably afk or sleeping
3) feeling moody
4) just their quiet personality
5) busy training


Why do people not talk when they train?
1) for high levels, they are usually in party training and they can't afford to slow down others' training. so they talk less or dont talk, train fast, get to the exp they want to get, and take a break.

2) for some people, they are just very eager to get to 2nd job, 3rd job, pq level, or new gears level (lvl 79 to lvl 80), so they talk less and train hard

3) people can die and lose their exp if they try to reply. after spending 2 hrs of training and getting 10%, he/she dies while typing and loses that 5% or 10%, how will he/she feels? For those who loses 5%.. I don't think it's as bad as those who loses 10%


Some people think it's no big deal.
it's just a game, why get so angry for?
but everyone has different perspective
you may think it's no big deal and people shouldn't get angry
that's your own perspective
other people treat it a great deal because if they lose exp,
it means their times spent on training are wasted
that's their perspective


some people say "they care more about leveling than people"
but you know..
MapleStory is a GAME for both communicating and leveling
some people find it fun to train and get excited about leveling up
but you don't think so.
that's your perspective
some people find it more fun to talk and hang around
but others don't think so.
that's their perspective


How do you approach this difference in perspective?

if you cannot change each other's perspective..
what do you do?
the more you try to make them change their perspective,
the more heated the debate will be..
what should you do?
you must understand that you cannot change everyone's mind and make them think the same as you do..
it's just like they cannot change your mind and make you think the same way as they do..
so what do you do?
respect and accept each other's perspective


However,
there is one incident that I was very disappointed and even up till today
when I recalled about it,
I still feel very disappointed

1) Questions unanswered and ignored

There were conversations made in the guild
at that time,
7 of them were online
2 of them were chatting non-stop
i was away cooking
i dont know about the rest..
they might be afk, busy or whatever
1 of the guildmates asked a question and NO ONE ANSWERED HER
when I came back and read the guild chat
and realized that her question was not answered
I was really angry
I whispered some of them and ask why didn't they answer her..
they said they were afk and when they were back..
they only saw those 2 guys chatting non-stop

So what's the problem here?
1) she feels left out because no one bothered to answer her
2) people might have missed the question
3) perhaps they were assuming or expecting and waiting for someone else to reply her << this is one hell of a SERIOUS PROBLEM

True Story
There was a story about this woman going home from work one night at 3.15am..
she was stabbed and raped..
people could hear her screams and calling out for help
they could have called the police at that very second
but u know what they did?
they ASSUMED that someone will call the police and thus..
no one made the call..
she was left on the streets.. dead

If someone had called the police immediately at THAT time when it happened
her life could have been saved..
but no one did.

HOW MANY OF YOU PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY READING THIS?
girls will but boys won't
those who are reading this now,
write "i read it" or something in the guild board so that i know u've read

Another incident
these 2 guys in the guild was chatting about some stuffs
Kean started talking and asking the guildmates some questions..
he said that this guy was ksing him because our guildmates ksed his friend before
so he was asking if anyone knew his friend
i was not there at the moment so i couldn't reply him
when i came back to my desk
i scrolled up to read the guild chats and realized that Kean's question was TOTALLY IGNORED
i scolded them for not replying..
at first.. they asked "what question?"
and then they went.. "ohh... that one..."
i asked them why they didn't reply
one of them said sorry because he was too excited talking about his stuffs and have missed the question..



When someone ask a question,
paused at whatever u're saying and answer them
it won't hurt to stop what u're saying
but it will hurt if you dont anwer them
because they feel left out


when you ask a question,
if you do not get answers from anyone of them
don't get too upset because some may be really afk or busy
but if there were people actually chatting and failed to answer you
they seriously need to be scolded
because it is NOT NICE to ignore people

2) Conversations in Guild

How do you expect conversations to start when there are no topics to begin with?
If you're the one who wants to talk,
then you have to start a topic for people to talk
you cannot just force the person to talk when he/she doesn't know what to talk about
I felt very awkward when people ask me to talk or start a topic when I'm not the one who wants to talk
I will participate in conversations if i have comments on it


However,
people try hard to talk and they run out of topics
so shouldn't you put in a little effort to communicate with others?
if no one talks in guild or no replies are given
it discourages people to talk in guild
and it makes them unhappy


in the end,
everyone just remain quiet because those who talked.. starts to think that maybe the others think they are annoying or noisy or talk too much
and those who do not talk..
they will remain unaware..

Summary

It is good that Jo pointed out this issue
and she even made the attempt to try to get people to realize how it feels
I am just gonna summarize all that i've said..
into 4 points here

1) To those who do not talk
make the attempt to communicate with ur guildmates
when u're taking a break,
talk about anything under the sky

2) To those who talk
if ur questions or topics are not replied
do not feel discouraged or be too upset
because they do not do it intentionally
and they are not ignoring you on purpose

3) To those spammers in the guild
make sure everyone has their fair share of greetings
*note: they can't always be there at the very second when you sign in
so if you do not get spammed on hi's or wb's..
do not let it bother you so much
*note: if someone spams hi to person A, and suddenly something bad happened and changed that someone's mood, and then person B logs in and gets no spam...
do not let that bother you so much too

4) To those who keeps chatting about their own stuff and totally ignored what someone is asking or saying..
ah...
these people..
you better watch out
like what I said earlier..
it WONT hurt to stop talking about ur own stuff and take 10 seconds to reply others
but it WILL hurt others if their questions are being ignored..

i hate it when i've typed so long..
and in the end i do not know who has read this entry right from the start till the end.
